What Makes Us Unique

Serving Central Washington for over 70 years, we have built a strong reputation and committed community relationships. We work closely with other service organizations, taking the lead or providing support to ensure the people and families within our local communities have the resources they need to live healthy, productive lives. Whether it’s providing case management for those with severe mental illness, strengthening childcare resources and availability, or helping families find stable, affordable housing, we make a substantial difference in people’s lives—every day.

We work for hope.

How We Serve

Catholic Charities is the social services arm of the Catholic Church. Our organizations in Washington State are broken into three regions that closely align with the regional Catholic dioceses—the Archdiocese of Seattle, Diocese of Spokane, and Diocese of Yakima. While we are affiliated with the diocese, our staff and those we serve come from all different backgrounds and faiths. As a regionally-based organization, we have the ability to identify and create programs to address the unique needs within our local communities.

Our Communities

Catholic Charities Serving Central Washington serves all of Central Washington including Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Kittitas, Yakima, Klickitat, and Benton Counties. Some of our services also extend into Franklin, Adams, and Walla Walla Counties. Below is an overview of some of the primary locations our offices are located.

Wenatchee is on the east side of the Cascade Mountains on the banks of the Columbia River in north-central Washington. About three hours from Seattle, this beautiful agricultural town swirls with arts and culture and attracts visitors who enjoy the sunny weather throughout the year.

The surrounding Wenatchee Valley is home to an annual average of 300 days of sunshine and enables all types of outdoor activities. From mountain biking to skiing, rock climbing, boating, and garden walking, Wenatchee’s adventure status is unmatched.

The city has beautiful residences for every lifestyle and budget. From cozy studios to one to three-bedroom apartments to single-family homes and luxury resort-style apartment communities, Wenatchee caters to families and busy professionals.

Here are some of our favorite things to do in Wenatchee.

  • Attend the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival, a 10-day event that typically takes place in late April into May.
  • Visit the upscale Pybus Public Market–it’s a must for food lovers!
  • Meander through the nine-acre alpine Ohme Gardens County Park.
  • Take a leisurely walk, bike, or run along the paved Apple Capital Loop Trail in Riverfront Park, which is behind Pybus Public Market and takes you along the Columbia River. You’ll get beautiful views of the Wenatchee Valley from here.

Yakima is one of Washington state’s most hidden gems. The Valley is home to the number one hop-growing region in the world, beating Germany, and is the leading county in the U.S. in apple production with over 60,000 acres of apple orchards producing a mass of varieties. You can imagine that there are some great breweries, wineries, farms for picking not only apples but all sorts of fruit, an amazing food scene, and even incredible outdoor activities.

This area is perfect for vacationing and living. With a goldmine of activities ranging from amazing food, drink, outdoor excursions, live music, and other seasonal events, there are tons of incredible things to do in the Yakima Valley that would make anyone want to pack their bags and go!

The overall cost of living in Yakima is lower than both the Washington and national averages. Here are the top recommendations on making the most out of your time there.

  • Take advantage of local breweries – explore a variety of local beers and craft brews. Besides beers, you can also find great wineries and ciders. It makes sense since The Valley is known for a variety of fruit orchards and those famous Washington apples!
  • Enjoy the food as well. From great food trucks at events, cozy bakeries and coffee shops, farm-to-table restaurants to amazing woodfire pizza, your palates will be deeply tantalized with exquisite flavors.

The cities of Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland comprise the Tri-Cities located in southeastern Washington State. They are closely linked cities at the confluence of the Yakima, Snake, and Columbia Rivers in the Columbia Basin of Eastern Washington. In addition to the three main cities in the Tri-Cities, West Richland, Benton City, Burbank, and Finley are smaller surrounding towns.

The Tri-Cities is one of the Pacific Northwest’s top destinations for wines with more than 100 wineries within a 50-mile radius. Great groups and organizations like the Mid-Columbia Symphony, Mid-Columbia Mastersingers, and Mid-Columbia Ballet keep the community entertainment and arts scene vibrant.

The area’s surrounding waterways provide great recreation for water lovers from all over the region to enjoy sailing, power and pleasure boating, waterskiing, swimming, fishing, windsurfing, and much more. Compared to other cities in Washington State, the Tri-Cities is a very safe community to live in and homes are quite affordable. Some family-friendly attractions include:

  • Historic museums, The REACH and East Benton County and Franklin County museums
  • Wineries
  • Film and music festivals
